NULC brings college to the class room

Every Wednesday from 12 September until the 24 October 2012 Lucy Hancock and Gareth Hughes will be visiting Madeley High School to speak to their Year 11 pupils as part of the schools PSHE programme.

Lucy will be delivering a ‘College Progression’ talk and Gareth will be delivering an interactive workshop based around employability skills. Both talks are designed to assist pupils with their transition from school to college by providing full-time course information and an insight into college life.

Lucy Hancock, Senior School Liaison Officer said: “We visit in the region of 25 schools in the local area presenting talks to form tutor groups or in assemblies to pupils in year’s 9, 10 and 11 raising awareness of NULC and post 16 opportunities.”

Lucy added: “Through these visits pupils are able to make an informed choice on their path to achieving their potential. We can also tailor the talk to suit specific requirements.”

Commenting on Parents Evenings, Gareth Hughes, Schools Liaison Officer, added: “We also attend Careers Events and Parents Evenings in local schools where we’ll be happy to discuss individual college enquiries on an informal basis.”
